La Cala Resort

Feria de Agosto
During the third week in August, the town's center is transformed into a spectacular street party venue to commemorate the event that Spain was seized by the Catholic Monarchs from the moors. Dance and music as well as the locals in their finest traditional costumes fill the streets and you can go to the Real fairground in the suburbs to enjoy carnival rides, party tents and food stalls that offer savory local food.

Día de la Victoria
Día de la Victoria (Victory Day) is the celebration to commemorate the event when the Catholic Monarchs gained the city from the Moors in the late 1400s. The celebration takes place every September 8th and involves a speech given by a famous local celebrity as well as a procession to the city center headed by the Town Hall officials.

Octubre Picasiano (Picassian October)
October is an attractive month for Picasso's admirers in Malaga as the Picasso Foundation annually organizes a series of events to commemorate the birth of the art prodigy in this city on October 25, 1881. There are interesting events such as the exhibitions of Picasso's work, musical shows, conferences and popular celebrations open to the public as well as the handing out of awards for noteworthy new artists.

Carnaval de Malaga
Although Carnival is not the city's official festival, it is observed with great enthusiasm in Malaga. Lots of people dress up and throw themselves in the wild street parties which are held throughout the city. There are live bands, music and a procession which make this celebration a very vibrant and lively event.

Fiesta Mayor de Verdiales
Spain's version of April Fools' Day is observed on December 28th with Los Verdiales which are traditional forms of song and dance from the rural areas in Malaga. There is an all-night-long party as well as a competition on the outskirts of the city to decide which village troupe sing and dance best. It's definitely worth going for the food, performance and the old-fashioned village festival atmosphere.

Feria del Libro
Malaga's Book Fair starts in the first week of the month of June in the Paseo del Parque which is close to the town hall. This is a great opportunity to browse for rare as well as latest books for the reading fiends as well as collectors of old comics or encyclopedias. The venue is also considered to be the best park in Malaga as well.

Montealmendros
Set in the foothills of andalusia's ronda mountains with outstanding views of the countryside to the sea, montealmendros is a small peaceful complex of two and three bedroom hillside apartments, 15 kilometres from san pedro de alcantara.
